George has a lovely weekend
o much happend.., where to start…
Ah.., yes…,
There and back again.., by George of the Jungle, Duke of Warwickshire…
A Landy’s Tale…
Sorry, I could not resist, a bit of literary humor…
Anyway, this tale starts at British 4×4. After an early rise and shine to a promising day we arrived in Wervershoof at 09:00.., sharp.
Rob Stewart, a knowledgable enthousiast of the marque, and proprietor of British4×4, took the time to get to know the Mister and Misses aswell as me.
After a cup of coffee Rob took the Mister under his wing and the education started. In the end it lasted for the better part of the day and the Mister has a much better understanding of my inner, and outer, workings.
A nice surprise was that we found that I have a self-locking rear differential, of which even I had no knowledge.
The rest of me was in very good condition and with all new lubricants and everything checked according to Land Rover specifications.., I feel wonderfull.
Only my waterpump needs replacement, but that’s a minor issue.
Overall.., the service and care at British4×4 was astounding. Being cared for and surrounded by fellow Landy’s was like being at a health spa.
The rest of the weekend was spend by introducing me to the parents, at least half of them and to a couple of friends of the Mister and Misses. This is a necessary evil which I tend to endure with some grace.
One good thing came out of it, the Mister did drive thru his first ditch, a bit cautious, but off course this was hardly a challenge. I am build to handle quit a bit more.
The drive home from Lelystad to Rotterdam was tedious, to say the least. Sunday evening and some freeways closed and traffic jams on others…
… I do prefer the countryside.
Until next time…
George
